York Countys CERT program members partnered with their local Home Depot store on December 4, 2004, greeting more than 250 customers at the door with weather awareness and emergency preparedness information. As customers entered, they learned how to prepare for the upcoming winter and signed up for a winter preparedness raffle. Throughout the day, six 5-gallon bucket kits donated by Home Depot, filled with flashlights, batteries, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and ice scrapers were raffled off to lucky customers.
York County CERT Coordinator Judi Riutort said the day was a rousing success. "This provides a wonderful opportunity for our CERT members to get critical information to our residents in the best way - when they're shopping for their homes.
