Medical Reserve Corps: Units of local volunteer medical, public health professionals, and community members who volunteer to contribute their skills, expertise, and time to support ongoing public health initiatives and public health emergencies in localities across Virginia.

The Virginia Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) program has grown tremendously since its start in 2003 with 12 MRC units. Today, there are 30 MRC units and over 10,000 community members actively volunteering to "Protecting the Health of Virginia". Local volunteers have supported communicable disease outbreak investigations, emergency shelters, free medical screenings, rabies vaccination and flu shot clinics, first aid stations at community events, emergency preparedness outreach and much more.

MRC volunteers are essential in supporting community public health activities and emergencies. Medical and general support volunteers are needed. To apply to become a MRC volunteer and learn more about your local MRC unit go to www.vamrc.org.
