The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is pleased to announce the availability of $500,000 (statewide) for the FY2007 Citizen Corps & Citizen Preparedness (CCP) Grant Program opportunity for local governments and/or Citizen Corps Councils.
The grant opportunity is to support state and local Citizen Corps Councils with all hazards planning, public education, outreach, citizen preparedness and participation, and the management of Citizen Corps’ Citizen Preparedness programs and activities. Citizen Corps Councils and programs are a major component of the Commonwealth’s emergency preparedness and homeland security efforts and support Governor Kaine’s commitment to making communities across the Commonwealth safer, stronger and better prepared to respond to crime, terrorism and disasters of all kinds.
