RICHMOND, VA -- The Virginia Department of Emergency Management has set up a toll-free number to accept financial donations for the victims of the severe flooding that struck Southwest Virginia on July 29. The donations will be distributed to flood victims through local recovery organizations. Counties affected by the flooding include Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington and Wise.
Donors may call toll-free to 1-877-245-5513 to make a contribution. The line will be staffed Monday-Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. After-hours callers will have the opportunity to leave a message.
