GIS: Geographic Information Systems

Emergency Management GIS Resources Virginia GIS/Mapping Web Sites

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is charged with the coordination of the Commonwealth’s emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery efforts. VDEM's Geographic Information Systems Program coordinates and integrates data from all levels to develop a digital, interactive tool that geographically displays the emergency management resources available in any locality in the state.

By integrating these layers of data, GIS becomes an invaluable resource for emergency managers, planners and first responders.
