Emergency Management Training

Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Management

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management in cooperation with the Oregon Office of Emergency Management, Clackamas Community College, and the Oregon State Board of Education has been certified to conduct training courses that will be granted college credit by Clackamas Community College toward an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Emergency Management.

The degree program is designed to provide emergency managers and other emergency services professionals a resource for academic recognition of their past and future training accomplishments. Clackamas Community College, Oregon City, Oregon, is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, recognized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and approved as a veterans training institution by the Veterans Administration.

The program incorporates most of the emergency management training courses offered through VDEM and the Emergency Management Institute's Independent Study Program. Students receive the additional advantage of paying only a nominal transcription fee per course (currently $30.00), rather than full tuition since the cost to the College to oversee and implement the Degree Program is greatly reduced.

The Emergency Management Associate of Applied Science Degree requires a total of 93 credit hours: 18 hours General Education; 51 hours Core and 18 hours Elective Emergency Management; and 6 hours of any Elective. Registration Forms and additional information may be obtained at http://depts.clackamas.cc.or.us/crimjust.
