This is a half-day workshop designed to familiarize local governments, agencies, colleges/universities, and officials with VDEM’s local emergency operations plan (EOP) template and to show how it can be used in the planning process. The course will follow the planning process outlined in the Comprehensive Preparedness Guide, 101 (CPG-101). It will include an overview of the planning process and demonstrate how a functional format can be converted to an Emergency Support Function (ESF) format and discuss the benefits of this format to your community.
The workshop will combine a variety of methods including a nuts and bolts presentation, hands-on activities, and class discussions. The hands-on activities will provide work product participants can use in their local EOPs. The intended audience is local government emergency coordinators, planners and those they will work with in developing or revising their local EOP such as; local government administration, college/university EM planners, law enforcement, fire/rescue, public works, DSS, ARC, etc.
