Course: Tidewater - VDEM Regional Emergency Management Academy

This week-long program brings together several series of Emergency Management and Incident Command System courses in a central location within the region. The format allows individuals to participate in one to three training courses during the week while minimizing travel costs for their agencies. This program is designed especially for students from Region V, Tidewater and will take place on the newly completed Tidewater Community College – Portsmouth campus from March 8-12, 2010.

Four curriculum tracks are available during the session. Students may attend any combination of courses that do not conflict with each other.

Track 1 (three courses)
Principles of Emergency Management – this class is scheduled for Monday-Wednesday, March 8-10. Enroll in: VDEM – G230: Principles of Emergency Management, LMS Section 8.

Warning Coordination/Weather Resources – this class is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 11-12. Enroll in: VDEM – G272: Warning Coordination, LMS Section 9.

Track 2 (three courses)
Hurricane Planning For Coastal Communities – this class session is scheduled for Monday, March 8. Enroll in: VDEM – G363: Hurricane Planning For Coastal Communities, LMS Section 1.

EOC Management and Operations – this class is scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday a.m., March 9-11. Enroll in: VDEM – G775: EOC Management and Operations, LMS Section 13.

Rapid Assessment – this class is scheduled for Thursday, March 11, p.m. Enroll in: VDEM – G250.7: Rapid Assessment, LMS Section 12.

Track 3 (three courses)
ICS/EOC Interface – this class session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 8. Enroll in: VDEM – G191: ICS/EOC Interface, LMS Section 16.

Intermediate ICS For Expanding Incidents – this class is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 9-10. Enroll in: VDEM – ICS-300-08: Intermediate ICS For Expanding Incidents, LMS Section 18.

Advanced ICS – this class is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 11-12. Enroll in: VDEM – ICS-400-08: Advanced ICS, LMS Section 23.

Track 4 (two courses)
HSEEP Training Course – this class is scheduled for Monday-Wednesday, March 8-10. Enroll in VDEM – L146: HSEEP Training Course, LMS Section 6.

Exercise Evaluation and Improvement – this class is scheduled for Thursday-Friday, March 11-12. Enroll in VDEM – G130: Exercise Evaluation and Improvement, LMS Section 1.
