Course: ICS Train-the-Trainer V450

Available at no cost only to authorized representatives of local governments, state agencies, criminal justice academies, volunteer groups involved in emergency response and recovery, and certain private industries, this recently revised course is designed to assist in meeting the growing need for incident command training across the Commonwealth. Applicants must agree and have the approval of their agency head to be reasonably available as an ICS instructor for their organization during the 12 months following course completion. Additional prerequisites are listed on the enrollment application. Those who successfully complete V450 will learn how to teach the Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced ICS courses, become familiar with the content of each course, and will be certified to deliver them in time blocks that meet the needs of their organization. Lodging will be provided and other travel expenses reimbursed for the first 30 qualified applicants.

For subsequent training delivered by graduates, VDEM will provide all instructional materials including PowerPoint and videos, all student materials for each training session, VDEM Certificates of Completion for each student, and continual updates on any changes to instructor and student materials. Instructors are expected to report to VDEM the date, location, and number of students who successfully complete each session.

Prerequisites:

Applicants must meet all of the following prerequisites to be considered for enrollment:

1. Agree and have the consent of his/her agency head to be reasonably available to teach ICS courses within his/her agency or local government during the twelve months following V450 ICS TtT course completion.

2. Completion of IS 700, ICS 100, 200, 300 and 400 or equivalent courses. Attach course completed certificates. (Evidence of ICS equivalency is responsibility of applicant.)

3. Demonstrate significant training and teaching experience in adult education.

4. Possess ICS practical experience or served as an Incident Commander or in a command staff or general staff position or have specialized knowledge and experience appropriate for the audience.
