Course: Benefit-Cost Analysis: Entry-Level Training G278

This 2 Day course is designed as an introduction to the fundamental concepts of benefit cost (BC) analysis. Participants will learn how to obtain BC data and conduct analyses using the basic versions of the riverine and coastal A-Zone software modules. This course will NOT teach how to conduct level-two BC analysis. The targeted audience is FEMA and State hazard mitigation officials. Other personnel involved in conducting BC analyses also may apply. Students must have prior knowledge of basic Algebra, percentages and computer spreadsheet programs in Microsoft Windows. Familiarity with basic flood mitigation terminology is suggested.

Pre-requisites:

On-Line Training: Students are required to complete one of the following two online courses and provide documentation of completion prior to attending the classroom portion of the training: When completed please FAX the on-line certifications to VDEM training dept. @ 804 -897 6556.

Introduction to Benefit-Cost Analysis Training Course: This training is for those who are not currently familiar with the BCA program. www.bchelpline.com/PreReq/index.htm

Bridge Training Course:This training is for users familiar with the previous BCA program to ensure they are aware of the new terminology and elements of the new tool. www.bchelpline.com/Bridge/index.htm

Computer Requirements
Students MUST bring their own laptop computers preloaded with the FEMA BCA software. The latest version of the software is available for download via the BC Helpline website: http://www.bchelpline.com/regn.aspx . A complete list of computer hardware and software requirements may be found on the software download page after the user registers.
