Do you want to become a trained and certified Communications Unit Leader (COML)?  If so, we need to hear from you!

Type III All Hazards COML training prepares emergency responders to be communications unit leaders during all-hazards emergency operations.  This significantly improves communications across the multiple disciplines and jurisdictions responding to an incident.

The Commonwealth Interoperability Coordinator’s Office (CICO) is working with the State Interoperability Executive Committee’s (SIEC) Operations Subcommittee and the Virginia Radio Cache Leads to offer COML training to interested individuals across Virginia.  Before we can identify the training locations and the number of courses to offer, we need to estimate the level of interest.  Without regard to the logistics involved (time away from work, potential cost, travel, etc.) please let us know if you’re interested!

By MAY 21st, please e-mail Constance McGeorge (constance.mcgeorge@governor.virginia.gov) and Nicole Unger (nicole_unger@sra.com) if you’d like participate in COML training.

Anyone interested in enrolling in the course must have the following:

  1. A public safety communications background with exposure to field operations.
