E270 -- Managing Floodplain Development through the NFIP Train-the-Trainer
- Sept. 10 -13 -- 7 vacancies
- This course is designed to train subject matter experts in how to deliver an effective and interesting course on floodplain management topics. The E273 course is used as the basis for delivery of this training. Participants will be expected to pick two sections of the new course and be prepared to teach them to the full class, and then to receive constructive feedback regarding their presentation.
E317 – Comprehensive Data Management for HAZUS Multi-Hazard (MH)

- This course provides in-depth instruction on collecting and processing height-resolution hazard inventory date and integrating the data into HAZUS-MH. Detailed lessons include Data
Availability, Modification and Costs, Importing BIT and InCast Files, Developing Point, Polyline and Polygon data, FIT, and Comparing Analyses. The audience for this course includes Federal, State, and local GIS specialists in emergency management who are involved in flood and other hazard assessment or managing multi-hazard databases and GIS information. A strong working knowledge of ArcGIS with Spatial Analyst extension is recommended.
E279 – Retrofitting Flood prone Residential Buildings
- Sept 24 - 27 -- 22 vacancies
- This course provides engineering and economic guidance on proper retrofitting techniques for flood-prone residential structures. It focuses on concepts of floodproofing, regulatory framework, design practices, and benefit/cost and technical feasibility analysis. The target audience is those with engineering, architectural or building science knowledge and job responsibilities including building codes, floodplain management, hazard mitigation planning, and public works.

Applications for course vacancies must be received at least 6 weeks before the course start date for the applicant to be considered for the course. Vacancies within 6 weeks of the course start date shall only be filled from the established waitlist, so it's important to apply early!
Send completed applications to your State Training Officer for approval. The State will then forward them to Admissions.
