State Employee Terrorism and Security Awareness Orientation Program

This basic awareness course is designed to orient state employees on the subject of terrorism, to provide basic prevention and self-protection techniques and to familiarize employees with their role and their agenies' role in responding to emergencies. A Train-the-Trainer course is also available for qualified state employees.

Please note that the online course works best when taken on a PC using the Internet Explorer browser. Macintosh users should take the instructor-led course or watch the video.

Instructions:

• If you are not registered, select the Register option from the main menu on https://covkc.virginia.gov.
• Once registered, log in to the system.
• Once logged in, click on "Learning Center" on the graphic map of the online campus.
• Click on "Course Information & Enrollment."
• Enter "terrorism" into the keywords box and click on "Search."
• In your search results, click on "Virginia Terrorism Awareness." You can now take the course, browse the course or review the course.

Train-the-Trainer Course

This 4-hour course will provide training and the training materials required for Trainers to be able to instruct the State Employee Terrorism and Security Awareness Orientation to staff in their state agency. The State Employee Terrorism and Security Awareness Orientation course is designed to orient state employees on the subject of terrorism, to provide basic crime prevention and self protection techniques, and to familiarize employees with their role and their agencies role in responding to various types of emergencies including acts of terrorism. This course is open only to state employees authorized by their agency to attend.
